Match Report
Once again ASB made the beautiful trip across London to leafy (pah!)
Leytonstone to take on the Hammers at the usual piece of grass that
we've challenged them on in the last few years.

We all met at leytonstone station in drips and drabs with thanks to
the lovely and unreliable central line. Making our way through the
diversity of east london we all started to get our mind on the game
and look around ourselves to see our squad.

With arrival at our destination we couldnt help but crack jokes once
again about the 2 towers of council state class overlooking the
pitches. these 2 towers could easily be taken off the postcard from
the old soviet union plus the oncoming bopping rudeboy Peewee just
added to our laughter. Jokes aside it's not an loctaion or team to
play at 10.30 on a saturday morning.

With the banter flowing we all got changed in the changing room with
signs on the walls warning us about thieves and all sorts of dodgy
east london goings on. but with our minds set on the game we all set
out even if we were a bit late.

we got warmed up in about 5 seconds only due to the fossil like east
end cliche ref angrily tell us to hurry up with aggression. i as
captain met him at the centre circle to explain our lateness only to
be met with a tirade of anti west london abuse and phlem coming from
his gob. anyway.............
we lined up like this -

Woody

Weeman - Peewee - Dan (peewee mate)- Task

Nick - Alex(PW mate) - Tim - Slouch

Tina - Frange (believe it foks ) hahaha

we started the game like a house on fire with some good passing and
possession from the full backs and midfield. it was only a few
minutes old when the first goal was struck and from the unlikeliest
source. some fantastic interplay between old friends Task, Slouch
and Frange gave slouch the chance to drill a great cross into the
box, Tina miss timed his effort diverting it across to Weeman who
came out of nowhere to calmly slot home for his first ever goal for
ASB.

It was soon two nil after 8 minutes when a long throw by Task headed
towards the six yard box and Dan got a superb looping header to it
and it nestled nicely into the bcak of the hammers net. This was
soem real shock and awe football form the super hoops and straight
from the kick off some great pressure lead to Tina using his pace to
nip in between the full back and centre back and get a penalty from
the ref after the West Ham captain who found Tina's pace far too
much for him. Nick calmy slotted the spot kick away to make it 3-0
after 10 minutes.

Chances kept coming for the R's and the wide men of Nick and Slouch
were just too much to handle for the claret and blue men from the
wrong side of London. Frange had two chances which he couldnt quite
get out of his feet and him and Tina were more useful than most
probably expected them to be. HALF TIME.

With the half time team talk just stating more of the same ASB went
out for the second half looking a little bit different. Tina slotted
back into centre midfield with Alex coming off and Rob moving
upfront to cause a mess.

ASB still had all the ball but a terrible decision from the hitler
like ref gave West Ham a way back into the match with a penalty. The
ball bounced around and a hammers palyer hit a snap shot, Task was
there to block with his back / rib cage but the blew for
handball !!!! the penalty was drilled down the middle with Woody
nearly getting a paw to it.

This goal in the against column didn't deter ASB and their
superiority was really starting to tell even with the 12th choice
strikers plying their trade in the second half. The one thing that
was worrying was the lack of respect from the referee towards all
players and one particular incident where a free kick was given and
after some the softest of verbals he decided to do a Rob Styles on
the super hoops and dish out a yellow or two to our players which
was the wrong side of ridiculous. He was also missing the aggressive
and incredibly dangerous tackles from one WH midfielder who's
mission seemed to be just injure someone.

With the R's pushing for a fourth Tina managed to hit the bar form
30 yards then have another long range effort get tipped over. then a
breakthrough. Some neat and patient play from the back led to Tim,
Tina and Nick playing some neat interchanging football and the
through ball to Nick was expertly tucked away his second of the day.

It was soon 5 when again some good wokr high up the pitch caused
havoc in the west ham rearguard and the ball was looping towards Rob
who (whilst praying to god) swung his long left leg at the falling
ball and made sweet contact with the ball. It seemed to take an
eternity to go in but it really did fly past the goalkeeper and hit
the right post and go across the line and into the net, all i can
say is well done Rob. For all his running, effort and Amercian
football style of physicality he really did deserve a goal and one
of that quality was very welcome.

ASB saw out the last few minutes with no problems and calmy saw off
any threat. A great performance with a makeshift team and you
couldnt fault one person from the calm centre backs, faultless full
backs, the persistent midfield and tireless strikers. Shout out to
Immy who turned up late and only managed 5 minutes, yop work fella.

COME ON YOU SUPER HOOPSAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
