Match Report
A big squad arrived at a boggy Old Deer Park ready to keep the momentum going from the Reading game. We had a bit of a wait until the Mansfield side arrived, knowing that they would be a man down. When they arrived it looked as though that had just graduated from nursery school!

The game kicked off and for the first 15 minutes ASB did not get out of first gear. It looked as though it was going to be one of those days where nothing went right for us. But finally Gavin ended the rot after latching onto Nicks assist to score the opener. From here on ASB "increased the tempo" and were ruthless on the young Mansfield side just like the Australian cricket team had been on the English over the past couple of weeks!!

The second goal came from one of the outstanding performers, Sharkey. His "Mark Viduka" like game began with a classy goal which was created by a Slouch assist. After a missed timed first touch, Sharkey regained his composure to slot the ball past he keeper from an acute angle. Two-nil to ASB.

With our confidence high and Mansfield's confidence low, Gavin scored our third goal after receiving the ball with his back to goal. He turned and with a low shot, snuck the ball under the keepers grasp. This was the point where we knew we were definitely on top!

Second half began quite comically, with Mansfield gifting us a screamer of an own goal. Gavin made a brilliant run into the box. Unfortunately his shot was not as good as his run, and the ball looked like it was going to go out for a throw in on the other side of the pitch. Thankfully, one of the Mansfield's defenders decided the ball would be better in the back of his own net and it gave us 4 nil lead. We will gift this goal to Gavin as it was a brilliant run into the box to create the chance for the Mansfield defender!!

ASB continued the onslaught. Each defender was rock solid putting in strong, hard, fair Lucas Neill type tackles : ) Mansfield did not get one sniff on goal. The midfield worked hard in difficult conditions, with Nick and Slouch looking dangerous out wide.

Tizzy came on and made an immediate impact with two superb goals on the left hand side to open his account as an ASB player. This was the start of Tizzy's best game as an ASB player!

The seventh goal caused ASB to go into mass celebration. Our samba king Diego, finally scored his first goal in an ASB shirt. After being told to play at right midfield, he got confused about what side of the pitch he should be playing on and slotted a well placed goal from the left side!! He finished our celebrations with a cart wheel and back flip (a celebration never seen from an ASB player before).

ASB finished the game with another three goals. Slouch bagged two goals to keep his tally for the year ticking over at a rapid pace!! In the middle of Slouch's goals, Riz scored the best goal of the game. Strooth, what a piece of individual brilliance from Riz, which capped off a Timmy Cahill like performance! He received the ball about 40 yards out, beat two or three Mansfield players and shot from about 23 yards across goal which the Mansfield keeper had no chance of saving.

It was yet another outstanding performance from ASB and a great way to go into the Christmas break.

Have a good Christmas and let's make sure we came back from the break firing on all cylinders like we have in the past few games!!
