Match Report

After last weeks decimation of Leicester, everyone was looking forward to A.S.B's first home game with great anticipation. The opponents were Brentford who seem to hate Q.P.R more than Chelsea and we always knew it was going be a tough game. Another adventurous Starting Line-Up meant A.S.B lined up like this.

GK : Rob
RB : Orville LB : Danny
CB : Tina & Peewee
RM : Malik LM : Mungo
CM : Jamie & Task
S : Jordan & Sharkey

Subs : Riz, Frange, Woody & Slouch

The first half kicked off in very windy conditions with A.S.B setting out their stall with some good slick passing and good movement. Playing into the wind meant opportunities were very hard to come by. The first opportunity arrived on the half hour with task whipping in a trademark left footed corner with mungo arriving in the area and heading just over the bar. A few minutes later, a great tackle from tina ricocheted back off the brentford defender, tina found some space and released a wayward shot on goal which went well wide. Coming up to half time it was all rangers, although to brentfords credit they were battling hard and going into the tackle strong it was A.S.B who continued to play the better football. Just before half time mungo released another effort on goal which also went well wide. Although with brentford having hardly no possession or shots on goal, the teams went in level at 0-0 at half-time.

Half time saw a few changes with Slouch coming on for Malik with Slouch going out to the left and Mungo switching to the right, Jools coming on for sharkey Up-Front, Riz coming on for Jamie and Woody coming on for Danny With Tina switching to left back and Woody going to Centre-Half.

The second half kicked off with A.S.B now playing with the wind into their backs, once again with rangers playing all the football. Although there was plenty of football slick quick flowing football being played and brentford hardly venturing into the rangers half, it wasn't until the hour mark that we mustered our first shot on goal in the second half, with orville whipping in a long high cross which forced the keeper to tip the ball over for a corner. Just after that Orville played a neat one-two with mungo down the right hand flank, orville hit a clean strike which went wide of the near post. Then five minutes later good build up down the left between tina, riz allowed slouch to whip in a cross which the bees defender failed to clear the ball dropped to Jordan who smashed the ball towards goal with the goalkeeper making a great save and tipping it wide for a corner. Then from the resulting corner our perseverance finally paid off, Tasks vicious in swinging corner was met superbly by sharkey who from the near post glanced the ball with his head into the far corner of the net!

Then the gaffer made a couple of subs with malik replacing mungo at right mid, and the gaffer himself being replaced by jamie up front.

We were now pressing hard for the killer second goal, with the fast flowing football continuing jamie chased onto a long ball from the back cut back and released a right footed shot that whisked just past the post. Then came the killer second in the 89th which was richly deserved, the ball got played up to sharkey who rounded his man and through on goal saw his shot saved by the impressive bees keeper only for the rebound to fall for jamie who in turn cooly volleyed the ball into the back of the net!

The game ended and with another good win under our belts. Special mentions to the back four who were superb for the whole 90 minutes, also to rob who collects his second clean sheet in as many games. Massive big-up to everyone who turned up, everyone played there part and fought hard for a result which flattered brentford who did not muster up a single shot on goal during the game. No ratings for this one as I think that everyone worked as hard as each other in earning this result.
