Match Report

Weather : Bright sunshine with not a cloud in the sky
Time : 10.30am
Squad:

Central defence : Tina and Pewee
Full Backs : Orville, Skidz, Frange, Justin
Right Wing: Mungo, Rocky
Left Wing : Slouch, Chilli
Central Midfield: Riz, Donny, Tim
Forwards : Nick, Sharkey, Immi, Jools
Ref : Juzza
Linesman : Admiral and Tim

First off I want to congratulate every single one of you, this was a fantastic
turn out, 19 players, a ref, a linesman and some supporters to cheer us on.....we couldnt ask
for any more.

We eventually kicked off after a slight mix up with the kit at 10.50 twenty
minutes later than scheduled but not to worry, with the following team playing 4 4 2 in the first half.
Goalkeeper Rob
Let back : Skidz
Centre Half : Tina and Pewee
Right back: Orville
Right wing : Mungo
Central Midfield : Riz and Donny
Left wing : Slouch
Forwards : Nick and Sharkey

From the outset we dominated this game, Reading really were not at the races,
with Riz and Donny controlling the midfield, Mungo providing a lot of width and some
excellent distribution on the right and Nick and Sharkey looking dangerous up front and it
didnt take long before we went one up through a Donny goal, well fed by Sharkey for the assist.

A couple of minutes later and we made it two, Mungo crossing from the right for
Nick to slot home. From here on in it was wave after wave of ASB attacks and after a number of
corners that went close we finally got number three through a Mungo inswinging
corner which delighted all of us on the side lines as we had been screaming for more
inswingers from the corner kicks as the Reading goalkeeper looked very dodgy, flapping at
everything. Great strike from Mungo - dont think he meant it but who cares when
its nestling in the oppositions net.

By now it was as one sided a match as you could possibly hope for and Riz and
Donny were dominating everything in the middle of the park. Tina and Pewee in defence
could have had a cigar, sat on an armchair, done the Times crossword and they still
wouldnt have conceeded a goal, in fact Rob only touched the ball once in goal when he
came out and punched a hopefull punt into our box. At times I was tempted to take Rob out
of goal and stick him up front such was the lack of attack from Reading.

With ten minutes of the half left Riz popped up to slot in number four, cant
remember who assisted for this so if anyone can remember let me know. Four nil up and
coasting we began to take our foot off the pedal and started to lose the width a bit but
with a minute before the whistle Orville puts in a fantastic cross for Riz to head in number
five. A few minutes later and Juzza blows for half time ( I say blows but for the first 30
minutes he had to shout as we were without a whistle! Luckily the Ginger Lord AKA Admiral
had been down Millets and got us a new one to save poor Juzza's voice ).

Half time and ASB 5 Reading 0 a fantastic first half performance and i was happy
with everyone of you.

Second half and we had to make some substitutions due to the high turn out so we
lined up as follows:

Goalkeeper ; Naz on for Rob
Left Back : Frange on for Skidz
Central Defenders : Tina and Pewee
Right Back : Orville started but was subbed with Rocky coming on and moving to
Right Wing and Justin dropping to right back.
Right Wing : Justin on for Mungo and then Rocky moving to the wing
Central Midfield : Riz and Tim on for Donny
Left Wing ; Slouch started but was subbed with twenty minutes to go with Chilli
coming on. Forwards : Jools on for Sharkey, Immy on for Nick

Straight away it was more of the same, with wave after wave of ASB attacks,
going close on a number of occasions and it wasnt long before Jools made it six with a great
cross from immy.

A few minutes later they swaped roles with Immy getting number seven from a
Jools cross. Reading finally had a shot from distance which sailed over the bar which they
followed up a few minutes later with a couple of corners which were defended admirably by
Tina and Pewee.

Number eight however followed soon after with some lovely one touch football
played from defence to attack and some great skill by immy to put Rocky in for our
eighth. Was great to see Rocky back in the side and he looks fit and a much improved player.

We created a number of chances after this with Frange blazing over an open goal,
Jools ballooning a shot wide and immy creating all kinds of trouble with his skill and
close control. Justin was making marauding runs down the wing, ably assisted by Rocky
and Pewee bringing the ball up from defence which directly led to our ninth goal
when he was manhandled in the box and dragged to the ground. Stonewall penalty and Ref Juzza
just had to give it.

Riz stepped up for his hat trick and powered in an unstopable shot into the top
right hand corner. Nine nil and we were playing with verve and skill, lots of one touch
passing and movement and good talking on the pitch. The final ten minutes we took our foot
off the pedal and let up a bit and reading came back into it with a couple of long range
free kicks and we were all begging for the tenth on the sidelines but alas it wasnt to be.

Nine nil and it was all over. A fantastic result, we kept a clean sheet, picked
up no injuries and spread the goals around the team which pleased me a lot. If we continue to
play like this we will all have a great season. I was particularly pleased with the
passing and movement although I think at times we were a bit narrrow and should have
utilised Slouch more on the wing in the first half. But all in all there wasnt a lot to be
unhappy about, it was good news all around, great turn out, great football, great result, everyone
smiling, no fisty cuffs on the pitch and everyone of you played well. Which made for a great
start to the season and a very happy management team.

Its hard picking a man of the match out of this game, everyone played well and
did what was asked of them and to be honest Reading were poor but I have to give it to
someone and that someone is Riz for getting the hatrick and marshalling the midfield, it
was a close run thing however.

Player ratings out of 10:

Rob - had nothing to do all game, could have got out the pipe and slippers but
when he was needed he collected the ball well and commanded his area - 7

Orville - Great game from Orville, linked well with Mungo and put in a number of
excellent and dangerous crosses one of which led to Riz's second goal - 8

Tina - Didnt really have a lot to do for most of the match as the ball was in
the opposite half of the pitch but what he did do he did very well with great talking and
total commitment from the skipper - 8

Pewee - Again didnt have much to do defensively but linked well with the
midfield and won the penalty for goal number nine, looked assured and very comfortable - 8

Skidz - Didnt have much defending to do but linked very well with Slouch and the
midfield and never looked ill at ease in possesion. - 7

Mungo - Up and down that right touchline like a greyhound, linked really well
with Orville and put in some great crosses notably for Nicks goal and popped up with a
cracking goal from a corner kick - 8

Riz - What can I say, scored three goals and marshalled the midfield to
perfection with great vocal support and encouragement and he didnt punch anyone ! - 9 Managers
MOM

Donny - Great to see him back in the fold and was his usual excellent self,
great first touch, passing and movement, popped up with the first goal and a real leader on
the pitch, was unlucky to be subbed - 8

Slouch - Consistently excellent throughout the game, although could have
provided a bit more width in the first half but total commitment throughout and lots of skill,
great work - 8

Sharkey - Was a real handful up front and was unlucky not to get on the score
sheet but the goals will come as he looks a natural center forward and got a good assist
for Donnys goal- 7

Nick - Linked excellently with Mungo and Orville on the right, great movement
and a well taken goal to top a good all round performance - 8

Naz - Had nothing to do for most of the game but distributed the ball very well
with long throws to his midfielders and looked very comfortable - 7

Justin - Great engine, good awareness and linked excellently with Rocky and Tim,
looks like a quality player, hope he can play regularly - 8

Frange - Fantastic communication with his midfielders, totally commited
defending, got up and down the wing supporting Slouch and Chilli and could have scored but for
a terrible shot that's probably still flying towards Mars - 8

Rocky - Looked very fit with great first touch, linked well with Justin and Tim
and Immy and got in behind the defence on a number of occasions and popped up with a well
taken goal - 8

Tim - Great debut from our Aussie powerhouse, broke up the play superbly, linked
well with Riz , Justin and Rocky and is a very welcome addition to the team - 8

Chilli - came on with twenty minutes to go for Slouch and didnt let himself down
with a great first touch and linked well with the midfield, when he is fully fit he
will be pushing for a starting place - 7

Jools - He is always a handful and proved as much today with a very well taken
headed goal and he could have had three or four - 8

Immy - Very skillful and scored one and made two assists , not bad for 45
minutes work. Could have had a couple more as well, only criticism, he needs to look up and
pass a bit more when others are in a better position, all in all great stuff though - 8

Special thanks go to Admiral for driving the manager, running the line and
buying a whistle and breakfast - cheers mate you get a 8

Juzza for being ref and not picking himself to take the penalty which he awarded
- you get a 7 mate

Thats it - keep up the great work and lets continue in the same way at training
on Thursday.

Cheers

Inga
